Global Media Council

The Global Media Council was founded by a group of experienced senior journalists based in Bangalore, Karnataka, India, representing diverse regions of the state and bringing with them wide-ranging expertise across various domains of journalism.

While rooted in Karnataka, the founding members possess strong professional networks across India and globally, enabling GMC to build meaningful connections beyond geographical boundaries.

United by a shared vision, the founders established GMC as a platform that blends journalism with social responsibility—aiming to create a strong, collaborative media network that connects professionals, institutions, and contributors across borders.

GMC is deeply committed to strengthening the core values of journalism by promoting authenticity, ethics, and responsibility. At a time when journalism faces challenges from rapid technological advancements, including AI-driven misinformation and the spread of fake news, GMC takes proactive initiatives to uphold the dignity of journalism as the fourth pillar of democracy.

Through conclaves, workshops, academic engagements, and collaborative platforms, GMC works to reinforce value-oriented, credible, and socially responsible media practices.

With this strong foundation, GMC strives to bridge gaps, amplify voices, and create meaningful change by aligning media capabilities with societal needs—working towards a more informed, ethical, and progressive global community.

To build a globally connected, ethical, and forward-thinking media ecosystem that empowers informed societies and drives inclusive social, economic, and political progress, while inspiring collaboration among media professionals and change-makers to create a more equitable, aware, and impactful world.

Mission

To build and strengthen a dynamic global media network by connecting professionals, institutions, and platforms, enabling collaboration for meaningful social, economic, and political impact. GMC is committed to identifying and recognizing outstanding contributors to society as “Media Marvels,” integrating their expertise into its ecosystem to drive positive change and uplift communities across all sections of society. The Chamber also strives to actively respond and collaborate with global media and society during times of crisis—including natural calamities, conflicts, and pandemics—by leveraging media as a tool for awareness, coordination, and support.
GMC promotes ethical media practices, continuous professional development, and technological advancement by creating opportunities for learning, skill enhancement, and career growth, while fostering innovation, collaboration, and responsible media engagement for global progress and societal well-being.
